Hundreds of Nigerians denied passport by some Nigerian embassies in Europe

It has become a devastating, depressing and a desperate situation in some countries in Europe, as many Nigerians residing there cannot travel to see their loved one, do business or renew their stay permit in their host country as the Nigeria embassy there could not give them their Nigerian passport, this allarming situation has made many Nigerians to suffer, as they cannot even get a job to take care of their family because their stay permit has expired and they cannot renew it without their Nigerian passport and many other cannot do business since they do not have a valid passport to travel out of their residing country, our source told us that the Nigeria Ministry for Foreign Affairs is aware of the situation and they are doing very little or nothing to change the status quo.

The Nigeria embassy officials said that this chaotic situation started one year ago when President Buhari came to power and his administration refuse to pay the contractor that prints the passport booklets and this lead to a shortage in passport booklets, which makes it difficult for them to issue passport to people who have paid and have benn scanned for the renewal of their passports, but the question is how come only Nigerians living abroad are the ones affected most by this shortage of passport booklets? how come pepople are still able to get their passports easily in Nigeria? why is the Nigeria government not able to print more passport booklets or perhaps extend the expiring date of the Nigeria international passports from 5 years to 10 years to reduce the congestion at the embassies or consulate and immigration offices? or is it true that Nigerians like to make Nigreians suffer?

One of the officials at the Nigeria embassy in Rome Italy which is one of the embassies greatly affected by this shortage of passport booklets said that another factor that lead to this crisis is that the number of Nigerians living in Italy has tripled itself in the past two years due to the migrant crisis in Europe and this has increased the workload for the Nigeria embassy in Rome which has been over stretched before now because it is the only Nigeria embassy in Italy and it also covers five other countries in Europe, the embassy official said that every request made to the federal government of Nigeria to create at least another consulate in Italy has been turn down and the official also said that some Nigeria consulate in Europe have been shutdown due to the current depression the Nigeria economy is going through.

Many Nigerians living in Italy do complain bitterly about the stressful and expensive journey they and their family have to make to the Nigeria embassy in Rome every time they need some officical documents from the Nigeria consulate, some pregnant women and nursing mothers have to put the health of their children at risk just to come to the nigeria embassy in rome, they also complained about the poor sanitation around the Nigeria embassy in Rome, the toilet is always dirty sometimes broken, the enviroment is littered with empty plastic cans, the Air Condition or Heating system is either too high or not working, nevertheless in spite of these calamity one big question is Why can't the Government of Nigeria create another Consulate Office in Italy to reduce the workload of their embassy in Rome and make life a little bit easy for their citizens living in Italy? It is already stressful living in a foregin land why make it more stressful? yet whenever any person goes to the Nigeria Embassy in Rome they are ask to pay a compulsory service charge, which is not paid in some other Nigeria embassies in other countries, Which way Nigeria?
